David Newman is an Animal!!!!

Our good friend David Newman from Supreme Being flew over for a bit sit down, and we really went to town on his arm. David and I had been going back forth over ideas for his sleeve for a few weeks, and after a fitful night of dreaming he came up with this idea. I was really stoked to be able to translate this dream image over into a tattoo. David sat for an amazing 7 1/2 hours of pretty solid tattooing. We were both grinning like Cheshire cats through the whole thing.

Kevin Stress comes to LA

Cliff Raven tattoo sighting

A few weekends ago Incognito was at the Ink and Iron tattoo Expo in Long Beach. I am always on the lookout for cool old tattoos on the people walking the crowd, when you spend 10-12 hours a day in the booth you get pretty bored. I was scoping out the sweaty masses when this gentleman walked by and I immediately knew it was a Cliff Raven tattoo. I snatched up my camera and got a few shots of the really cool tiger and bamboo and water flowers and butterfly on his other arm. He said the work was done between 1982-1986. The tattoos have seen many months of summer sun since then but they still look killer… thanks Cliff..

Nicole and her new birds

I have been tattooing Nicole for years, she has some of my favorite work of late. Nicole has the large koi and lotuses on her back and the really large Roman statue head and butterflys on her thigh and ribs. Nicole is an avid birder and this time we decided on a Audubon print for her arm. We lined and shaded it in one site and the color and background is to follow. I am really stoked on how the tattoo is coming along so far. I love doing this style of tattoo.

Mr. Deno’s trip

Was a great success, we all had a great time at INK and IRON and the days after were a whirlwind of tattoo activity. Adrian got a really cool bat and I got a great big coverup on my leg. Deno works so fast and furious it’s inspirational to see him go. Here are a few shots from the trip. We took Deno and Philipe to our favorite Cuban bakery and coffee shop in Silverlake, the famed Cafe Tropical. Deno couldn’t help himself .

Mr. Briggs says goodbye to Incognito

As of July 1st Spencer will no longer be working at Incognito. He is making the move down south behind the Orange Curtain to work at the world famous Good Time Charlie’s Tattoo Land in Anaheim. Here is just a taste of what has been going on at the shop. Kenz is getting this great bird and picture frame tattoo. She found me through the Spitfire Girl and our friends at Bobbie. I am really excited about how this is progressing.

Just a fun little name to throw in there. my longtime customer Chris and his wife stopped in to get a little name for their new boy.

Jon is another great guy. I really enjoy tattooing him. This was the funnest octopus I have done in years, we have to color the octopus and add some more background and this one is in the bag. What’s next Jon? The other arm?

I started this skull snake tattoo on Jose a long time ago, we finally got him back in to get it all finished up. This is the only photo that was presentable, his arm was in various stages of healing, not a great time for photos. Over all I am really glad we got it done. I am excited to start on some new projects for Jose, we are finishing off his other sleeve and there is talk of a back piece. We shall see.

Sara came if for a jelly fish half sleeve inspired by Ernst Haeckel, the jelly fish will be posted in gallery pages, buy we did this awesome little starfish yesterday, I was really excited about reproducing all the crazy little details in a way that would work well in a tattoo.

MR. DENO comes to Los Angeles

I have somehow convinced my pal Deno, from Tattoo Magic in Madrid, to stop by the shop for few days after the INK AND IRON tattoo show and do a few tattoos. Deno will be at the shop on the 14 and 15 of June. If you would like have Deno make a tattoo for you please email me through the shop and I can get it all sorted out. Greg Mo and his new tattoo

My good pal Greg took a break form painting and surfing to come and get a few tattoos the other day. We did a really cool big ass rose right on the old sailor spot on his forearm but none of the shot came out well enough to post. We did however do a little homage to his French bulldog Henry and his baby girl that is on the way in few weeks. Congrats you kids!
